“White Collar” on USA, ‘Payback’ Mini Recap/Teaser
Last weeks “Payback” episode of “White Collar” was one of the best of the season when it comes to showing the relationships that have grown between our protagonists throughout these first two seasons.
At the Burke home, Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) searches for his suit jacket, remembers it’s at the dry cleaners which he was supposed to pick up last night. He forgot. Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) knew he’d forget and so she picked it up, which made Peter feel like one of “those” husbands and the two of them parted without their short hand for I love you -”hon”. This show is one of the few on the air that shows a wonderful relationship between a husband and wife and Thiessen is a big part of that equation. (Watch for my interview Q & A Soon)
We first get a tip from Neals (Matt Bomer) old rival Matthew Keller (Ross McCall) who is currently in the nicest prison cell you’ve ever seen complete with Cuban cigars and Tiffany lamps about a man that has returned to the counterfeit passport business a photographer played by Adam Goldberg. In return for the information Keller wants Peter (Tim DeKay) to halt his transfer to Barksdale Prison and place where he won’t be surround by luxury like he is now but instead will be surround by Russian mobsters who want him dead. Neal is suspicious from the start knowing that dealing with Keller is always a risky proposition.
Mozzie (Willie Garson) is also skeptical knowing that every time Neal gets involved with Keller, he manages to hurt him using Kate (Neals lover that was blown up in the Season One finale). Neal assures Moz that he’s moved on. We sure hope so because since news of Hilarie Burton being promoted to series regular for Season Three, all sorts of fun interplay is bouncing around our heads.
Neal and Peter get to the photography studio and meet the photographer who looks pretty shifty as only Adam Goldberg can, he runs, Peter follows and tells Neal to stay there, Neal ignores him of course and tries to cut them off in the alley. Neal arrives in the alley just in time to see them place a hood over Peters head and throw him in the back of a van. The look on Neal’s face shows how much he’s grown to love Peter like a brother/father/mentor. The FBI won’t negotiate and tell Neal to go home, Elizabeth is there too and though Hughes tries to reassure her, she is worried and figures that Neal might be Peter’s only chance.
