Today he brought Oscar winner Melissa Leo and James Badge Dale into negotiations to join the drama.

Washington will play an alcoholic drug addicted pilot who become an unlikely hero when the plane engine malfunctions. We haven’t had a good airplane movie in awhile and who better to come to our rescue than Denzel.  In the FAA investigation of the incident evidence of his characters drug abuse comes to light but they try to sweep that under the rug.

So far Bruce Greenwood is in with Don Cheadle, Kelly Reilly, Leo and Dale are still in negotiations.

Leo is the hopeful to play the investigator who wants to uncover and expose Washingtons abuse.

You’ll remember Leo from her Oscar winner performance in The Fighter as Mark Wahlburgs mother. James Badge Dale has been in several highly acclaimed TV series including HBO’s The Pacific, AMC’s Rubicon and movies including The Grey, World War Z and an upcoming sex drama Shame.
