Below you are treated to the much awaited first peek at Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis’ new film ‘Looper’ released by Tri-Star Pictures yesterday. This sci-fi thriller is the perfect genre for these two actors. Time travel is possible in this time but only to the mob who hire assassins to take care of their hits. The mob from the future sends back someone they want eliminated to a “looper”.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Bruce Willis in Looper
Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a looper who is very well paid and living the good life until the mob sends back an older version of him (Bruce Willis). This pair of actors don’t look that much alike so we aren’t sure how Joe knows it’s an older version of himself so perhaps he looks just like his father. At any rate the clip looks very cool, both fast paced and the futuristic mayhem we expect from Willis.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was at ComicCon talking about this role and he is clearly thrilled to be getting to “become” Bruce Willis someone he’s idolized and watched in movies since he was a little kid. His exact words were “It’s Bruce F’ing Willis!” To prepare for the part Levitt watched and listened to Willis’ past movies and created a character based on who Willis is now. He underwent three to four hours of makeup each day to help transform his face to resemble his future self.
When you listen to Levitt’s voice in the official trailer you do hear that distinctive Willis lilt in his voice. It’s hard to imagine but Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been acting for 25 of his 31 years starting his career at 6 years old in “Family Ties.” His most iconic role in the sitcom “3rd Rock from the Sun” made his name a household word and his most recent movie ventures (50/50 and Inception) have catapulted him to stardom.
Rian Johnson both wrote the screen play and directs “Looper” and wrote it with Joseph Gordon-Levitt specifically in mind based on their relationship when he directed “Brick” who was in that with past credits including “The Brothers Bloom” and “Brick” which also starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
